Two weeks of designing, exploring, gaming and prototyping the future of the built environment, together with a team of top talents.
“Interactive Architectural Prototypes” is a two week Summer Lab based on the principles of experimentation and interactivity through emerging technologies in architectural production.
It is organised by arch.tualize and AWARE in partnership with the Städelschule Architecture Class (SAC), Frankfurt and will be held at the campus of SAC from 21 July – 1 August 2014.
The Lab engages students, architects, designers and game developers with four techniques of prototyping: designer-informed, analytics-driven, crowd-operated and sensor-actuated. Participants learn the use digital and parametric design tools and engage with feedback collected data from simulation algorithms, online users and real-world sensors.
The Lab consists of a Tools & Techniques Week (daily workshops lead by arch.tualize, AWARE and their collaborators), a Prototypes Week (a design workshop for the production of interactive prototypes) and Field Trip (a guided architectural and exploratory tour of Frankfurt).
The acquired knowledge will be applied in designing interactive prototypes ultimately exhibited at an open public exhibition at the Städelschule.
